To all the “Type A” personalities out there:
If you’re doing something scripted, you’re not having “fun.”
Fun is, by definition, unscripted, unpredictable, and spontaneous.
If everything is going very well according to a detailed plan, you may be pleased with your organizational skills, relieved at an absence of problems, gratified by the correctness and foresight of your planning, and any number of other good things—but you are not having fun.
If you are “Type A” and this makes no sense to you, you have either (a) forgotten how to have fun, or (b) never experienced fun in the first place.
